Advancing the Digitisation and Analysis
of Dynamic Cultural Heritage Objects

What is KINETIKA?

4D digital twin framework applying Industry 4.0 to preserve and simulate movable cultural heritage structures.

KINETIKA is a cutting-edge research project that pioneers a 4D digital twin framework for dynamic cultural heritage objects, think historic lifts, clock towers, looms, drawbridges, and complex monuments with moving parts. Unlike traditional static 3D models, KINETIKA captures their real-time behaviour, internal structures, and structural evolution through non-invasive technologies like muography (MUSICA), IoT sensors (STEALTH), drone inspections (DYNAMO), and AI-driven analysis.

The platform integrates these into a modular, cloud-based ecosystem where heritage experts simulate scenarios, predict maintenance needs, and plan conservation proactively. Validated across five pilots from Finland’s Pyhäsalmi Mine to Lisbon’s Santa Justa Lift, 18 partners from 11 countries deliver tools like Cracksight for fracture detection, VibroSense for vibrations, SimPro for physics simulations, and MechGuard for predictive maintenance.
